Earth Month

“The Earth is what we all have in common.”
—Wendell Berry

April 22nd is Earth Day around the world and so this is the place for ideas of how you and your children can celebrate. Everyday should be Earth Day but Kids in Service is going to devote this entire month to focusing on things we can all do to help our planet. We have family projects, book recommendations and so much more to help you and your family focus on our planet this April.

As part of the celebration, we are asking EVERYONE out there to make an Earth Day Pledge.  We hope that everyone (families, single folks, grandparents, couples etc.) will make a pledge to help our earth. What will your pledge be??

We have some great projects for all AGES! Some of these projects may have to be modified due to the pandemic.
We have added YouTube Read Aloud links to many of the books in this post so that you can enjoy them right away!
May Day takes place on May 1st. For a few years, my family has been using May Day as an opportunity to spread simple acts of kindness. Click the photo above to learn more about May Day and how you can help bring back this sweet little holiday.
In the USA, Independent Bookstore Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of April. This is a great time to get out and support the special indie stores near you. Can’t get to the store today, click on the image above to learn how you can support your favorite stores.
Head over to Commercial Free Childhood to learn more about how you and your family can sign up for Screen Free Week this month!
