February Holidays

February is a great time to focus on KINDNESS. Here are some of the things that we do in our family to help keep the focus of Valentine’s Day on kindness and love.
It is Black History Month and Kids in Service would like to celebrate the people who have fought (and continue to fight) for civil rights in this country. Check out some of our favorite books and movies that will be great springboards for discussion with your children about these heroes from history and today.
Candlemas, February 2nd, is known by many names: Groundhog Day, Imblog and St. Bridgids Day.  Candlemas is a beautiful and long forgotten winter holiday that marks the half way point until spring. Check out our post with book recommendations and fun facts!

Random Acts of Kindness takes place every year on February 17th. What will you do to show kindness on this day?
Ramadan begins some years in spring and others in winter, it all depends on the lunar calendar.
